Trans-Cranial Magnetic Stimulation (TMS)

Who is it for?

If you have been diagnosed with MDD (Major Depressive Disorder), or OCD (Obsessive Compulsive Disorder) and have not experienced relief from medication, NeuroStar may be right for you. NeuroStar is not a drug. It is NOT another form of shock therapy (ECT) or surgery. And it has none of the common side effects associated with medications.

Does insurance cover the cost?

NeuroStar is the #1 physician-recommended TMS Therapy for the treatment of mental health issues. It’s a safe, effective treatment that is FDA-cleared and covered by most insurance companies for MDD and MDD with anxious depression. And new payors are frequently adding OCD to their list of covered conditions. If you suffer from OCD, it’s worth asking your insurance company if they cover TMS for OCD treatment.

While every insurance company is different and policy details can vary, most major insurance companies will cover or reimburse for NeuroStar TMS.

How successful is this treatment?

A real-world study reported an 83% response rate. This means that 83% of patients that completed their NeuroStar treatment cycle saw measurable improvement in their depression symptoms.

The same real-world study reported a 62% remission rate. This means that 62% of patients that completed their NeuroStar treatment cycle likely wouldn’t be diagnosed with MDD if they were first being evaluated by their doctor.

By comparison, in a separate study not involving NeuroStar, for patients who have not found relief from 3 or more antidepressants, the chance of remission from subsequent medications is less than 7%

We now offer TMS treatment for Depression and Anxiety!

We employ the most up-to-date TMS machine on the market, designed by NeuroStar®

How does it work?

Medical treatments for depression are usually centered around antidepressants that rely on the systems in your body to deliver relief. NeuroStar Advanced TMS treatments go right to the source of depression—your brain.

There are specific areas in your brain that control mood. When synapses in those mood-regulating areas are underactive, connections are broken and depression can result. NeuroStar revitalizes those dormant synapses, “waking up” the brain to function as it was meant to.

Does it hurt? Are there side effects?

NeuroStar is not a drug, “shock” therapy, or surgery. And it doesn’t have any of the common side effects associated with traditional antidepressants.

There is no sedation, anesthesia, or recovery time and for most people the NeuroStar treatment is relaxing. The most common side effect is mild to moderate pain or discomfort at the treatment site that usually subsides within the first week of treatment.
